Is the new Twitter layout like Facebook?
From the Designer’s Desk:
The much anticipated update has finally been rolled out by Twitter, the new and improved profile page that has surprisingly taken a leaf out Facebook. Despite the resemblance to the Facebook timeline, I must admit it looks much better than the previous layout.

You have the profile header where you can upload a defining image for your brand. This gets adapted to all mobile versions of the same (Don’t forget to download the latest version on your iPad, it looks great). The profile photo that appears in all tweets is on top of this header along with your 160 character bio to tell your story to visitors.
Adding the bio on top of the image might not have been the best creative decision since a busy image can ruin the look of your page. It works better visually if the right images have been implemented, this includes the background and profile picture that need to complement one another.
Brands need to be very careful not to make the profile look too overpowering since Twitter is not Facebook and you want users to read your tweets not look at pictures. For detailed image specifications and information on how to create an optimal design for the new layout click here.
